Dr Mukesh Kumar is a Lecturer and Research Group Leader at the Department of Engineering/ Institute for Manufacturing and a member of the Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research and of the Cambridge Forum for Sustainability and the Environment.

His initial interest in risk management in manufacturing investment decision-making was later extended to resilience and sustainability – namely through research on the climate change implications for global food supply chains in collaboration with the Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research and the British Antarctic Survey.

Mukesh's research has also included food product safety management from developed and developing country perspectives, risk evaluation in pharmaceutical supply and environment sustainability assessment in global supply networks in four sectors – food, pharmaceuticals, automotive and aerospace. The knowledge generated by his research can positively impact the lives of the world’s poorest 3 billion people.
